New Forest West
The Labour Party has announced that Dr Sally Johnston will represent the area in the upcoming general election. Having called the New Forest home for over 35 years, Dr Johnston has set out a clear list of priorities including tackling the lack of affordable housing, rebuilding public services, and looking after the wonderful local environment. With a lifelong medical career, Dr Johnston is keen to bring her experiences to public office if elected.
Sally led the New Forest covid vaccination programme, providing more than 80,000 vaccinations across the area. She has also served a number of elected roles within her field, including as a BMA representative and Chair of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight GP Committee.
Sally said: “With a long history of public service, coupled with working as a GP in Lymington for over 30 years, I have frontline experience of what needs to change and improve in our local Health Services. I am passionate about the NHS being enabled to deliver quality care for all.”
“I have seen firsthand how long people are having to wait for vital services, such as mental health support, and the impact this can have on other parts of society. We need urgent change and a Labour government can deliver that”, said Sally.
“On the doorsteps, we hear how much people across the New Forest are concerned about the future of their local community, and how much harder life has got in recent years. There’s a clear appetite for change and we’re offering a plan that makes the area a better place for everyone.”
